How to Get Your Victoria Motorcycle Licence

Riding a motorcycle in Victoria, Australia can indeed become reality for you. It is easy to achieve when you train with a reputable VicRoads-accredited Motorcycle Training Organisation, such as RideTek MTA. So how can you get started to get a motorcycle licence? Depending on your experience, here are the steps you need to take in order to get your licence.

Get Appropriate Training
There are strict regulations in Australia when it comes to getting a motorcycle licence. If you have no experience at all, then it is strongly suggested that you take the appropriate training course. At RideTek we offer specialised courses for everyone, from beginners to advance. So even if you have never ridden a motorcycle before, you can still follow our course for beginners.

Pre-Learner Course
If you are a complete beginner, you first need to learn the basics of riding a bike. At RideTek we offer a pre-learner course, which is perfect for beginners who still need to learn the basics. It is also useful for more experienced riders who simply want to refresh their knowledge. With this course you will learn how to handle your bike properly, how to start and ride it. You will also learn proper gear shifting and braking.
However, this course teaches you everything off-road. If you want to take the next step up, you can take the Learner Permit Course. This course takes the basics from the Pre-Learner Course and applies it to riding a motorcycle on the road. This will ensure that you gain the proper experience to ride the bike on the road, completely by yourself.

Learner Permit Course
Once you have completed the Pre-Learner Course or you have sufficient experience, you may take the Learner Permit Course. After you have finished the Learner Permit Course, you are ready to take the Learner Permit tests. It has been our experience that riders who took the tests without proper training had a very low success rate. On the other hand, riders who took our courses have an almost 100 percent success rate. However, our main purpose for teaching you, is not just to help you pass the tests, but to give you all the skills you need to ensure safe riding on public roads.

Licence Course
Now you have your learner permit, the next step is to get your motorcycle licence. However, you will still need to hold your learner permit for three months before you can apply for a motorcycle licence. The course will teach you all the ins and outs of motorcycle riding and prepare you for situations that require advance skills, and that is what we will teach you here at RideTek. Once you finished this course, you will really be completely ready to safely and confidently ride your motorcycle on the road.
